This Is What Happens...

This is what happens...

When your daughter gets a hold of a hi-lighter...

When your daughter is learning boundaries...

And when you have told her it's NOT okay to color on furniture, walls, drawers, her dolls, her kitchen, etc...

Isn't she cute?

Now she knows it's not okay to color on her brother either :)

The Tour

I've had several people ask for more pictures of the house. To be honest, I've hesitated because, while I love my house, it just doesn't photograph as well. The pictures just do not do it justice. They just don't.

Perhaps, it's because this house is perfect for us. And while we don't care that it may not be perfect for everyone, I am aware that it may not be perfect for everyone. There's that side of me, while it is small, that cares what people think.

So,I'm finally giving in. I'll post pictures. Just to satisfy every one's curiosity...

The Family Room

Computer desk complete with my sippy cup for when I get thirsty...

A gun, some jammies, some bubbles to blow, a magna doodle, a little book to read, and of course, a paper towel for any messes that might happen...

Frosted mini wheats for when the belly growls...

Dominoes, anyone??

Folded laundry, a car and in the background, our heat source for the winter... a wonderful little space heater from Costco...

Tinkerbell for some easy listening...

The movie chest, my dad's artwork (he carved that duck!) and darn it, that's where I put my sippy cup! I was looking for that!

Blankets (why fold them and put them away when we're just going to use them again, right?), a page torn out of a book and a Lightening McQueen slipper. And do you see that...

Yes. That's the Blazer jersey that Jack wants to wear tomorrow. Yes. Tomorrow. Good thing he's prepared and thinking ahead.

The Bonus Room

Yes. This is clean for us. And yes. This is just a quarter of it...

No. You are not seeing things. Yes. There is a TV in front of a TV. Shortly after we moved, the big one quit working. It was free though so we thought we'd keep it and see if we could fix it. That was in November. Can you see that's it's of the utmost importance to us??

The Half Bath

An empty soap dispenser holder (Brenton seems to HATE it when it's actually in it's place. So, he promptly takes it out and puts it on the other side of the sink), a hand towel, that kid you not, seems to HATE staying in the towel ring where it can dry so nicely, and an Easter egg of course. Because wasn't Easter just this last weekend??

In case you have some building to do while you take care of your business...

The Entry From the Shop/Mud Room/Garage

Coats, hats, friends' daughters' sweatshirt, and of course a couple boxes of summer clothes that have been out for months because we have had some nice days, but not enough to actually warrant going through the boxes and putting everything away...

The Laundry Room

Yes. It's that yellow. No. We did not paint it that color. Yes. We will be painting over it.

The Kitchen

Legos for Luke.

Caden's artwork, a paper, my hydration granny pack, a bag full of things to return to Target, and of course, my Garmin box that has been there since mid-April. Yes. I am so good at putting things away...

The Front Entry

No. She didn't come with the house. Yes. She is cute. Yes. We'll keep her...

I kid you not. I went to look for Caden's coat the other day. Found the coat AND EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. HIS. SWEATSHIRTS. Wonder where he gets that from... Also, seems to be a catchall for their school work. Maybe this is where I should look for things sent home from school...

Jacskon's clothes that were supposed to be put away before he left for school. It's 10:00 now...

The Living Room

Yes. It actually is the cleanest room in the house. Yes. This is the adults place to relax. Yes. This is my favorite room in the whole house.

But, it is not without some reminders that we do, in fact, have 5 kids...

Who doesn't need a spoon while reading??

The Master Bedroom

A picture of us... Cannot believe it's been almost 12 years!!

Ella's artwork on our door...

Ella's artwork on our dresser.
Yes. I said our room and our dresser...

Ella's Room

Yes. This is clean for her.

Almost spotless...

Caden, Jackson and Brenton's Room

No. We did not paint their room like that. Yes. That is an overflowing hamper that was empty two days ago. Yes. That is a sheet over the window. And yes. That boy IS cute!

Yes. Those are beach towels covering the window. Sure. I would love to come decorate and organize your house for you...

Who doesn't need Eucerin on the floor???

Cole's Room

When we moved in, there was green astroturf on the floor with football lines painted on. That was gone the first day...

The Kids Bathroom

Complete with an open toilet seat, spit on the mirror and toothpaste all over the counter. Good thing it's cleaning day!

So, there you have it. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Because I Got Nothin'

Because I can't get my mind off of Luke and his family... Because anything I think to blog about seems silly to even post... Because, sometimes, it's just easier to be completely silly... And post about my chickens. My 24 girls. And 2 boys. The chickens that just figured out that they CAN cross our driveway... The chickens that made me wonder what in the world that noise was at my front door... The chickens that love to come over to the house in the morning and then head back over to "their" side of the property for the rest of the day... The chickens that I love to watch run across the yard. Heads down. Wings out. They make me laugh... Oh, sweet chickens. Each one with a different personality... Roo, the protector... And the only one who will hold still long enough for me to take his picture! There's Cheese, Camo, Rose, Angel times 4 cause we can't tell them apart, Woody, Georgia, Georgina, Blue, Buddy, Red, Ruby, Roseanne, Roxanne, Wellie, Willie, Lucy, Blossom, and more that we just can't tell apart (poor girls just get called pumpkin and love) First thing in the morning Caden and I head out to open the coop. When we open the door they file out. Flying. Running. Chasing each other into the field. Eating up whatever is so tasty so early in the morning. We stand watching for awhile. Soaking up our special time together. Both loving the one on one. (Is it a bit sad that one on one time with my son comes while taking care of the chickens?) These days, I'll take whatever sweet time I can get! There's my silliness. My chickens. My one on one time with my son. Much much easier than going deep...

Sweet Luke

In the words of his dad...

"Luke is with Jesus now.

He stepped through the door, into heaven and God's arms this morning at 10:45. Our beautiful, son, so strong, smart, passionate, hilarious, sensitive, honest, loving... He is safely in the arms of our Lord, so Strong, so Loving, so Faithful, so Good.

[This will certainly not be our last journal entry, but it's all I have to say today. It's time to be with family.]

1 Corinthians 15
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. s We shall not all sleep, t but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For u the trumpet will sound, and v the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, andw this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

x “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 y “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and z the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, a who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Please be praying for our dear friends. Thank you!

A Little Laughter

We've all needed some laughter around here.

Lately, we've found ourselves very heavy hearted. Praying for our dear friends. Praying for my brother and his family. Praying for so many that are broken hearted and hurting.

So, last night, it was lovely to have a good belly laugh...

We rotate who gets to pray every night. The person that prays gets to also be the first to say what their favorite part of the day was. Last night, when it was Cory's turn, he said, "coming home to my beautiful wife and children." To which Jackson replied, "I'M not beautiful!" Then proceeded to do this...

Sorry. We stand corrected.
